Alexa Whiteside
Entertainment Attorney focused in film, tv, literary publishing, and media
Alexa Whiteside is a seasoned entertainment attorney and the founder of WAM Entertainment Law, a boutique entertainment law firm. With over 15 years of experience in the entertainment industry, she offers comprehensive transactional legal services to creatives in film, television, literary publishing, and digital media. Licensed in California, New York, and North Carolina, Alexa is dedicated to supporting content creators and ensuring their stories reach audiences effectively.
Her career began in New York City, where she worked as an independent producer, unit production manager, and casting associate during and after her studies at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. This hands-on experience provided her with a deep understanding of the intricacies of film and television production. Transitioning into law, she served at the boutique Beverly Hills entertainment law firm, Ramo Law PC, advising clients across various media sectors, including film, television, live events, and podcasts, from financing through distribution.
From March 2023 until founding her firm, Alexa was Vice President of Business Affairs at the production and distribution company Hearst Media Production Group, a subsidiary of Hearst Television. In this role, she oversaw legal aspects of a vast content library, including over 4,500 episodes of children's programming, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations. She also led the implementation of rights management software and standardized copyright processes.
Beyond her legal practice, Alexa is actively involved in professional organizations. She serves as Co-Chair of the Pro Bono Committee for the North Carolina Bar Foundation and is a former section chair for the Sports and Entertainment Law Section of the North Carolina Bar Association. Her commitment to the arts and legal communities underscores her dedication to fostering creative expression and legal excellence.
