In 2006, Attorney Stephen Knights became an Assistant Solicitor General with the Clayton County Solicitor General's Office. There he prosecuted all misdemeanor offenses ranging from traffic offenses (suspended license, speeding, tag violation, no insurance) to DUIs (per-se and less-safe) and Battery-Family Violence cases. He also received the Professional Image Award while at that office.

In 2007, he became an Assistant District Attorney with the Griffin Judicial Circuit for three years. There he specialized in prosecuting drug offenses and had cases in Spalding, Pike, Upson, and Fayette Counties. He had numerous jury trials, ranging from ounces to kilograms of drugs including; cocaine, methamphetamine, and marijuana. Part of his duties also included arguing Motions to Suppress, Preliminary Hearings, Bond Hearings, and occasional Juvenile Court proceedings.

In 2009, he became a Senior Litigation Assistant District Attorney with the Clayton County District Attorney's Office. He prosecuted all felony criminal cases including murders, armed robberies, rapes, and child molestations. In addition, he handled appeals to the Georgia Court of Appeals and Georgia Supreme Court. He completed 10 successful appeals. Most recently, in June 2011, he successfully presented a case in front of the seven justices of the Georgia Supreme Court. The case involved an issue of the inconsistent verdict rule in a murder conviction. The Georgia Supreme Court affirmed the conviction in the case of Guajardo v. State, S11A0965. While at the Clayton County District Attorney's Office, Mr. Knights had a 98% conviction for his two and a half years tenure. And a 100% conviction rate in 2011.

Andrew R. Lynch discovered his calling as a criminal defense attorney while attending the University of Georgia. During his senior year of college, a close family member was investigated, arrested, and tried for a felony drug charge. Andrew witnessed firsthand the effect criminal charges can have on the accused and their family. This experience inspired him to pursue his legal education at Georgia State University College of Law.

Andrew graduated cum laude from Georgia State University College of Law with overall academic honors and top honors in litigation and advanced criminal procedure. Additionally, Andrew was recognized with highest distinction for his contribution to pro bono legal work. Immediately after graduating from law school, Andrew began working as a criminal defense attorney at the Dekalb County Public Defender's Office. He has been admitted to practice in all levels of Georgia's courts including: the Georgia Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, Superior Court, State Court, Magistrate Court, and Municipal Court.

While at the Dekalb Public Defender's office, Andrew gained extensive felony and misdemeanor trial experience. Andrew has represented people accused of a wide array of crimes including Murder, Armed Robbery, Drug Trafficking, Rape, Family Violence Battery, and DUI.

Not every case goes to trial. Andrew has also handled hundreds of pre-trial motions and hearings including bond hearings, preliminary hearings, motions to suppress, motions in limine, and pretrial negotiations with the prosecutor.

Andrew is a member of the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (GACDL) and serves on GACDL's Educational Services Committee. He was recently selected for and attended the 10th Annual Bill Daniel's Trial Advocacy Program. This program is limited to only thirty students and provides intensive training in enhanced trial techniques for use in defense of the criminally accused.

Andrew left the Public Defender's Office to begin his own law firm specializing in aggressive criminal defense. Andrew knows not every case goes to trial but he believes every case should be prepared for trial. This preparation is what gives Andrew the knowledge and power to pursue the pre-trial resolutions his clients desire and enables him to take cases to a jury whenever it becomes necessary.

DUSTIN W. HIGHTOWER grew up in Carroll County, Georgia where he graduated from Central High School (“CHS”) in 2000. While attending CHS, Dusty lettered in football, wrestling, and baseball. During Dusty’s senior year he served as captain of CHS’s football team along with his cousin Brian Maxwell (now a mechanical engineer at Southwire), and fellow classmate Josh Hubbard. Upon graduating from CHS, Dusty attended the University of West Georgia (“UWG”) where he graduated cum laude. During Dusty’s time at UWG he was a member of the Chi Phi Fraternity, Beta Gamma Sigma Business Honors Society, Order of Omega Honors Society, University Ambassadors, Student Activities Council, Student Government Association, and the Inter Fraternity Council. Dusty particularly enjoyed the time that he served as President of Recruitment for the Inter Fraternity Council because he was allowed to plan the Greek recruitment process for UWG, and speak at orientation sessions on the importance of networking and how fraternities can assist members in establishing a solid networking foundation. Aside from his multiple on campus commitments Dusty managed to continuously make his grades a top priority. Dusty regularly made the National Deans List, was named an Ingram Scholar, and received the Spark’s Memorial medal (Chi Phi’s highest GPA award) three out of the four years he was in school. Dusty continues to be dedicated to UWG by currently serving on UWG’s National Alumni Association.

Shortly after graduating from UWG Dusty decided to attended law school. Dusty received his Doctor of Jurisprudence from John Marshall Law School of Atlanta. While in law school, Dusty was selected to serve as Notes and Comments Editor on John Marshall’s inaugural law review journal, John Marshall Law Journal. Dusty was honored by having his comment, Student Searches and Seizures: Georgia’s Current Approach and Recommended Change, chosen as one out of only four student pieces to be published. While in law school, Dusty was also a member of the American Constitutional Society and the Phi Alpha Delta Legal Fraternity.

Dusty did not only study the law while in law school, he also found ways to practice the law in his community. Under the Third Year Practice Act and the Graduate Act, Dusty returned to Carrollton and practiced law as a prosecutor beside Carroll County Solicitor Mr. Jimmy Tuggle. During his time in the Carroll County Solicitor’s Office, Dusty prosecuted DUI, theft, simple battery, and a variety of other criminal cases.

Dusty also became a certified mediator while in law school. Dusty put his mediation skills to work through an internship with the Fulton County Landlord/Tenant Program. During his time in this program, Dusty was able to mediate over 75 landlord/tenant disputes.

Dusty has now returned to his hometown area to practice law. Dusty is a hardworking, honest, dedicated, and driven individual that will work endlessly to provide you with the legal representation that you deserve. Ms. Polster's legal career began while she was still in law school when she was selected to clerk for one of the most well-respected criminal defense firms in the state -- The Steel Law Firm. She learned from the best that the key to defending criminal cases is thorough preparation. Throughout her more than ten years of legal practice, Ms. Polster's track record speaks for itself. As a public defender in Fulton County, Polster lost only one jury trial. As a prosecutor in DeKalb County, Polster secured convictions in even the most complicated high-profile criminal cases. As both a defense attorney and a prosecutor, Polster has been guided by her strong belief that her responsibility as an attorney is to work diligently to assure that a defendant's constitutional rights are protected. Ms. Polster is a graduate of Ithaca College and the Georgia State University College of Law. She is admitted to practice in all state and appellate courts in Georgia. Ms. Polster co-founded the Georgia Innocence Project (www.georgiainnocenceproject.org) and served for many years as President of its Board of Directors. Polster received a Special Recognition Award from the State Bar of Georgia Young Lawyers Division for her work in founding the GIP.

Polster served as a Staff Attorney for the Fulton County Public Defender and as a Senior Staff Attorney for the Metro Conflict Defender, both agencies of the Georgia Public Defender Standards Council. In 2008, Ms. Polster joined the DeKalb County District Attorney's Office where she served as a Senior Assistant District Attorney in the Trial Division and the Special Victims Team. Polster, who revels in the opportunity to mentor young lawyers, managed the Law Student Internship Program for the DeKalb District Attorney's Office. In 2009, Polster was invited to serve as a Visiting Professional with The Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (www.icc-cpi.int) in The Hague, Netherlands. In 2010, Polster joined the faculty of the Kessler-Eidson Trial Techniques Program at Emory Law School and has been a frequent speaker at student programs at Georgia State University College of Law.
